Renegade Training
The world's leading authority in strength, health & fitness.Fists of Fire: Renegade Training's Boxing Program
It has been called the “sweet science.” Boxing, the classic arts of ring combat, is a blending of science, strength, speed, guile and of course…a ”toughness” to never be vanquished. Boxing is, dare I say, an art-form, rarely appreciated for its extraordinary demands except by those who step between the ropes.Boxing is one of the great athletic tests but today’s amusing corporate gym training methods and so-called “science” have seemed to cause Boxing to venture away from its roots. Yet at its core – are the real gyms and the realization that training for the ring is one of the most demanding and challenging training methods for both genders, that simply has survived all the “advancements” in the modern gym. Training for the ring, can never underestimate the importance of skill and tactical work and for me to not stress this heavily would be unethical. A Boxer box’s and this is a skill in which the consequences of poor training are subjected to a brutal pay-back. As you review “Fists of Fire”, not only will you find the Renegade approach a tough no-nonsense method but a trip back in time.

Strength training for the “Fist of Fire” success
Boxing requires short bursts of explosive power, endurance and levels of fitness along with tremendous technical skills and tactical guile. However typical “sport training” is terribly insufficient to the demands of Boxing (possibly because Boxing is not a simple sport but a great test of skill, conditioning, courage and guile) and needs to involve a greater variety of movements for a more generalized base-line development. The training of a Boxer requires a peculiar understanding of being prepared for explosive, reactive situations but also not conditioning the individual in a manner (hypertrophy) that pushes him / her outside of there weight class. The race to build a “stronger” athlete is somewhat confused as it rarely considers how said “strength” is evaluated or whether how such training actually impacts upon ring performance. Because of the many different exercise choices, training equipment and schools of thought, the method of evaluating whether an athlete is “strong” can be somewhat interpretative. Yet, the basic question of “what is strength” has become a highly distorted landscape and rarely answers how the “training effect” actually improves performance. Strength training has evolved well beyond from the clinical definition and is categorized more as the manifestation of power by the results of a testing-day accomplishment in the weight room. It is quite possible that the testing mechanism / training medium may exhibit a tremendous display of power yet may not cross over to performance in the ring. Simply and emphatically, training (in this instance) is performed to enhance performance in the ring.
With this in mind we are able to construct the top ten exercises to enhance the conditioning for Boxing.
